In this installment, we will explore different points of view from individuals empowered with a passion for nature. From farming to homeopathy and from art to activism, our creative individuals will tell a story of how nature became a passion project.

Through storytelling, we hope to foster new connections between community members presenting and the local audience, strengthening Downtown WPB’s creative community.


Mike Kane, Palm Beach Farmyards
Mike Kane is a local entrepreneur who founded and directs Palm Beach Farmyards, a nonprofit on a mission to turn food deserts into food forests. PB Farmyards in an urban farming and edible landscaping company that creates beautiful gardens, which produce an abundance of high- quality food in and for our communities.

Mike’s background as a certified Florida Master Gardener and landscaper on Palm Beach Island for many years gives him a solid foundation to grow his business. Mike also recently co-founded The Garden Shoppe, a retail garden center in downtown West Palm Beach that supports the nonprofit mission. They sell plants, gardening supplied and host educational workshops. In addition to being certified in permaculture, Mike dreams of a world where more people remember their innate connection to the land and where their food comes from.

Amy Simion, Owner and Found of GROW
Amy is a Florida Master Gardener and has been making succulent and cacti arrangements for years. She is a certified business coach who does corporate team building, These two passions were combined to create GROW, a way for people to learn how to improve their overall health and well-being by incorporating more nature into their daily lives.

Joe Roskowski, Tree and Native Plant Enthusiast
Joe Roskowski is an engineer specializing in robotics and product development. He enjoys working with fascinating and complex systems, nature being the coolest one. West Palm Beach is technically a tropical rainforest climate but doesn’t currently look like one. Joes’s mission is to fix that.

Micah Hartman, Co-founder of Ground Floor Farm
Micah Hartman is the co-founder of Ground Floor Farm in Stuart, Florida. Ground Floor Farm was founded as an urban farm, market, restaurant, and community space. When not thinking about urban farming she enjoys time with her family, dogs, and trees.
