Swizz Beatz, Kehinde Wiley Kick Off Miami Art Week

After braving a blizzard to make centerstage at Basel, Kehinde Wiley and Swizz Beatz arrived together (with winter jackets stylishly still in tow) to deliver a flawless, fine-art experience.

Last night, two modern-day art icons joined to debut and celebrate their dynamic Creative Minds Talks discussion about the state of activism, philanthropy and how to make it in today’s world as a creative. Creative Minds Talks is a platform that features the ‘art of storytelling’ and sits with the brightest minds for captivating, on-stage dialogue. Encouraging an engaged audience of celebrities, curators, gallerists and collectors to take space, own their “disruptive” nature and think beyond society’s confines, Swizz drew from his vast knowledge of the entertainment and art worlds. Kehinde, famed for his historic portrait of President Barack Obama and recent “Rumors of War” sculpture shining in Times Square, stole the show with empowering words that tied back to his soaring Black Rock Senegal residency program to which ticket proceeds benefitted. In close, the art titan humbly stated that “the itch to share your studio space can become a social movement.”

The spirited event was hosted in Miami’s arts and culture hub, The New World Center where tastemakers and trendsetters joining Swizz Beatz and Kehinde Wiley to celebrate Creative Minds Talks’ debut Art Basel discussion included:
